Deborah's Dinner

My Restaurant reviews. The more the wobbles the worse the restaurant. This is my personal view not the zaggat, Toronto life, Fodor, view of the world. It is my real world up to date dining experience, like it or not.

Historic Wobble - Armpit Knife -

Ok I just had a flashback about a very serious wobble

When the knife dropped to the floor the waiter (who was very annoyed) decided to bring over the replacement knife when be broght the dinner plates. But since his hands were full he simply held the knife under his arm. Once he placed the plates he placed the knife on the table as if everything was all right. <>
OK that was bad.......
Then I made the mistake in asking for a clean knife and the waiter went into a tirade about how bad guests we were.
Simple said I left (no dinner) and have never been back.

There are wobbles and then there are wobbles.

(BTW I an not identifying the resturant just yet)

Wobbles Explained

This is a simple explanation of the wobble system

Just think of a time you had to eat dinner on that table that kept wobbling. Wasn't it irritating. Didn't it keep interrupting your nice meal. That is very simple terms is a wobble...anything that interrupts an otherwise enjoyable meal.
These items are purely subjective and I will usually mention them in the review. Some people may not be bothered by wobbles but other may find even more than I do. I am not talking about wobbles that are beyond the control of the owner, chef or staff. I am talking about things about which they can have an impact. There are also wobbles that can be recovered, for example an extra special item or action may cancel a wobble, so you (the reader) will never hear about it.

I feel that all restaurants have all the opportunity to provide a wondrous event that is the dinning experience. Not because it is expensive, not because it is a great location, not because they have the best food. It all makes for the perfect dinning experience.

I have finally decided to voice my opinion because I continually see the same restaurants getting the same press year after year and yet when I attend these very same restaurants I seem to get varied experiences. So I am going to talk about them here.

So feel free to let me know what you think. Argue, agree, comment, all is welcome.

I hope that in some small way my experience can help you spend you hard earned dining dollars on a great dinner experience.

There is nothing better in the world that having a great dinner with good friends.

This is a so far unfound gem in Toronto. They have the best Cheval Tartar. This is one of the best values in Toronto right now. Their food is as good as any 4 star but their pricing are great. Excellent service with the right atmosphere, which some find too casual but the food more than makes up for it. Zero wobbles.

This was a disappointing dinner (more than 5 wobbles). The Steak Tartar was not ground very fine.
The service was spotty. We were one of maybe 5 tables in the whole restaurant and there seemed to be a real problem in getting their attention.

One redeeming item was the Banana Soufflé, although we did order the strawberry one actually but who counts after 5 wobbles

There is nothing more annoying than a wobble!
